What is new?
Highlights
New "Contacts" tab
The contact group principle known from Favorites in ProCall Desktop for Windows is now also available in ProCall Web. Similar to ProCall Mobile, the new area in ProCall Web is called Contacts and supplements contact groups with a list of recently contacted people. Contact groups are synchronized with ProCall Desktop for Windows and ProCall Mobile.
The contact view is divided into three areas that can be expanded and collapsed as needed:
- left: the list of recent contacts
- center: the contact groups
- right: the contact widget (optional)
Contact widget instead of presence tooltip
- With the extended contact information inside the contact widget, ProCall Web offers a central detail view that brings together many pieces of information that were previously distributed across the app. At the same time, it replaces the presence tooltip familiar from ProCall Windows and provides a range of actions.
- Clicking the presence avatar opens the optional right column with information about current availability, available communication channels, and further contact details.
- Bonus: Contact information can be opened from different areas of the app in the same way every time. This ensures consistent operation and makes navigation easier.
- Depending on the contact, the following information is displayed, among others:
- status information
- shared groups and chats
- call history
- shared media
- contact details stored on the UCServer
- call notes
Recent contacts
- The "Recent Contacts" list shows contacts that the user most recently communicated with — for example by phone or chat. The entries are sorted chronologically, with the most recent contact at the top.
- This saves time because frequently used contacts do not have to be searched for.
Search and direct actions
- Via search, both UCServer contacts and contacts connected via the UCServer can be found quickly.
- Not only do the search results offer a list of matches, but also directly usable actions via the context menu, such as:
- start call
- open chat
- display contact information
- add contact to groups
Organizing contact groups and contacts
- The central benefit of the new area lies in working with contact groups, with which contacts can be structured — for example by team, department, or personal working style.
- Contact groups can:
- be created
- be renamed
- be deleted
- be expanded and collapsed
- be reordered via Drag & Drop
- Contacts can:
- be added to groups
- be removed from groups
- be used in multiple groups at the same time
- be moved to other groups via Drag & Drop or the menu
Compact or detailed view
- The display of contacts can be adapted to your own working style.
- You can switch between a compact and a detailed view.
- The compact view is suitable for everyone who prefers a reduced, clear display.
- The detailed view is practical when you want to start various communication channels with just one click.
Speed dial keys
- Speed dial keys also continue to have their place in the new Contacts area.
- They can be created within contact groups and help make frequently used numbers or feature codes especially quick to reach.
Administratively predefined groups
- Some groups cannot be edited. The reason: they were created by an administrator.
- Such groups are marked with a lock icon. In this case:
- the group name cannot be changed
- contacts or speed dial keys cannot be added or removed
- the group cannot be deleted
- This is not an error, but deliberately set up this way.
To display administratively predefined groups (admin groups) in ProCall Web, the administrator must configure the appropriate settings in the user administration of the UCServer. See the section titled “Specify content via the UCServer administrator” in the documentation here: https://support.estos.de/en/procall-enterprise/best-practice-administrative-vorgabe-von-inhalten-fuer-monitor-und-favoriten-in-procall-enterprise. Please note that displaying admin groups in ProCall Web via a client-content XML file or a central administrative XML file is not supported in ProCall Web.
Accessibility "Chat" and new "Contacts" tab
- The chat tab and the new contacts tab are accessible and can be used with screen reader and keyboard navigation.
Improvements
Automatic Device Settings
- If a device has been manually selected at least once in the ProCall Web device settings, it is saved in a “Device History”: When connecting or pairing, the app automatically switches to the first available device in chronological order from this list; for audio devices, ProCall Web also follows the Windows settings if no device from the list is connected.
- Core logic:
- Manually selected devices are added to a device history for each device type (microphone, speaker, and camera).
- When selecting a device, the app checks the list and selects the available device that was last used.
- For audio devices only (microphone and speaker): If none of the devices from the list are available, the default Windows device is selected.
Calls
- If video calls are disabled by the administrator, the camera cannot be turned on during an audio call anymore.
- For an incoming video call when the camera is blocked, the call window is no longer in an initial state where the microphone is muted and the camera button only works after unmuting.
Accessibility
- When using keyboard navigation and a screen reader, the entry field above the dial pad in the “Calls” tab is consistently read aloud.
Performance
- Performance issues were addressed related to server requests on app start that could overload the system.
Bug fixes
- Muting and unmuting during a softphone conference works correctly again.
- The screen-sharing button is available again in the maximized call view.
- If ProCall Web is open in more than one browser tab, the system will clearly indicate which tab is no longer active and ask in which tab the app should remain active.
- ProCall Web no longer crashes during the microphone test in the settings when microphone permission has been revoked in the browser.
- In the contact widget of a group chat, the participant list now appears in the correct order again and without an incorrect “pinned” marker next to the user's own avatar.
Coming Up
Separate permissions for Softphone and audio calls
- Administrators will be able to enable or disable the two features independently of each other.
- This means softphone calls can remain available while audio calls are disabled.
