Quick guide to the main functions of ProCall 8 Enterprise for macOS

Click on your extension or extension number to set this line as the default line (digits shown in bold).

Manage lines

ProCall Enterprise client for macOS only supports TAPI lines provided by estos ProCall Enterprise server. If a user is also assigned a SIP subscriber line or a line from a SIP trunk connection via the UCServer administration, this line is not made available to the user in the ProCall Enterprise client for macOS. However, if this user works with the ProCall Enterprise client for Windows or with the estos ProCall mobile app, the user will also be able to use the SIP lines. The ProCall Enterprise client for macOS is currently not equipped to process audio or video streams.

Overview of your conversations and calls

You can see your call journal under Calls. Explanations of the information provided here:

  • Internal outgoing calls/phone calls: yellow handset symbol with red arrow pointing to the right
  • External outgoing calls/phone calls: gray handset symbol with red arrow pointing to the right
  • Internal incoming calls: yellow receiver symbol with green arrow pointing to the left
  • External incoming calls: gray receiver symbol with green arrow pointing to the left
  • Missed/unanswered internal/external incoming calls: gray handset symbol with exclamation mark
  • Name of the communication contact (subject to availability)
  • Telephone number of the communication contact
  • Date and time

Other icons such as a headset or a triangle may appear if the user is also working with ProCall Enterprise client for Windows. These icons represent SIP softphone calls, audio/video chats or screen sharing sessions. These communication icons are displayed in ProCall Enterprise client for macOS for compatibility reasons, but such functionalities are not available in the client for macOS.

Calls – your journal

Right-click on an entry:

  • Call
  • Mark entry as edited/unedited
  • Open contact details
  • TextChat
  • Deleting from the call journal

To start a telephone call:

  • Direct entry of the phone number in the search line (magnifying glass – enter or search for phone number)
  • Right-click on an entry under Calls
  • Right-click on the contact under Favorites
Using dialing assistance with ProCall/Commands

Mark the number in the active application:

  • Keyboard shortcut

or

  • Right mouse button – Services – Dial with ProCall

Search for contact and enter phone number manually

All connected contact databases can be searched for a contact or search term using the search bar. 

You can also enter a telephone number manually in the search window and start the call here by pressing Enter.  

During a call

Duration of the call

You can see how long you have been on the phone with someone in the call window during an active call.
 

In an active call

You can:

  • Hold call
  • Initiate consultation
  • Forward call
  • Toggle
  • Conference
  • Transmit signals via DTMF dialing

End the call by hanging up. After ending the call, you will see the call in your journal under Calls.

Filter/search calls

  • By number
     
  • By name
     
  • All/only unprocessed calls
  • Filter out internal calls
     

Presence management

Set and recognize status

The presence status is created according to defined rules, e.g. via telephony services, or set manually by you; you can set an absence note to comment on your presence status.

Your contacts will see your presence status and your absence note (depending on the authorizations granted).

Contacts/Favorites

  • Add contact
  • Create a new group, e.g. Marketing, Sales, Administration
  • Rename group
  • Remove group
  • Move group
  • Move contact to another group with a simple mouse click

Authorization levels

By setting an authorization level for a contact, you determine the level of information depth that you share with this contact. Depending on the authorization, you can, for example, pick up calls from other contacts (pickup / call pickup function).

Authorization levels can already be specified by the administrator and therefore cannot be extended.

  • Blocked
  • Public
  • Business
  • Team member
  • Personal

The number of missed calls is displayed on the ProCall Enterprise client icon in the dock:

Contact details

Right-clicking on a contact/favorite or the result of a search provides you with additional information about the contact.

TextChat

You can start a text chat with your contacts. The chat can be started either via the contact details, the Calls window by right-clicking or via the Chats window. In addition to pure text messages, you can also use emojis here.

Determine version and activate updates

The version of estos ProCall Enterprise client for macOS installed on the Apple macOS is determined via the ProCall Mac menu and the sub-item About ProCall:

If the ProCall Enterprise client update service is in use, ProCall Enterprise client for macOS is informed about available new versions and the client offers the software update:

Alternatively, you can also check for updates at any time via the ProCall Mac menu and the sub-item Check for updates... to check the availability of a software update on the server:

Further information

Verify certificate

If ProCall Enterprise server is only operated with a self-signed certificate, the ProCall Enterprise client for macOS will indicate this during the start process:

In order to establish operation with such a certificate, this self-signed certificate must be trusted. However, estos generally recommends the use of regular publicly trusted certificates.

General functions and restrictions

The availability of the functions depends, among other things, on the system environment used, ProCall version, configuration and authorizations granted.
