Observation

In the user settings, more (named) users can be activated in ProCall Enterprise than are specified in the license overview under "estos ProCall workstations" and have thus been licensed.

License model of ProCall Enterprise: Named User

The licensing of ProCall Enterprise is a Named User licensing. (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Named-User-Lizenzmodell).
Natural persons as well as virtual (test) users are included/included equally.

Under our variant of a Fair Use Policy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use), we technically grant a time-limited overrun of the above rule, which is comparable to a Concurrent User license model (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concurrent_user).

estos Fair Use Policy, until subsequent licensing

ProCall Enterprise licensing follows an estos-specific variant of the Fair Use Policy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_Use_Policy). This means that more users can be activated in the short term than the number of named users licensed.
For organizational-technical reasons, a smooth transition to a correctly licensed installation is made possible in the short term (up to one month), i.e. until the missing users have been relicensed.

During the transition phase, however, individual users may not be able to use the software. You can read more about this under "Functionality".

Avoiding violation of the estos Fair Use Policy through consultation

If the installation of the ProCall Enterprise software is permanently designed, without the intention of relicensing, to allow more named users than listed in the license overview under "estos ProCall workstations" to use the software, then this constitutes an abuse of the estos Fair Use Policy

This may result in a license suspension if the practice is not immediately changed or the missing users are relicensed.

Verification and advice regarding the correct licensing of ProCall Enterprise can be provided by estos and qualified estos sales partners.

Functionality and its side effects

Activation

When a user is activated, he or she can use the ProCall Enterprise client software and apps, i.e. log in to the ProCall Enterprise server with his or her user ID.

When an activated user logs in to the ProCall Enterprise Server, it is displayed in the license overview as an "estos ProCall workstation" (license).

This display is used to provide an overview of the ProCall workstation users who are actually logged in.

Due to the possibility of activating more users than there are licenses, different users may no longer be able to log in to the ProCall Enterprise client or app and thus also no longer be able to use the software because the number of concurrent users is also exceeded. A built-in check mechanism prevents additional users from logging in. The system regulates usage according to the first come/first served principle – i.e. the user who logged in earlier is given priority.

This mode of operation technically enables two named users (activated) to use the ProCall Enterprise software alternately. The targeted exploitation of this behavior is a violation of the estos Fair Use Policy.

Correct solution according to the license policy

A user license has been purchased for each named user who will use the software.
