With the estos tech essentials, we have summarized current essentials around technology and support from our portal support.estos.de.

NGN21 deactivation effective after 31 December 2021

We previously offered the possibility to set up a federation between ProCall Enterprise installations via NGN21 (beta). This made it possible to use presence exchange and a chat across company borders between ProCall Enterprise installations.
The interest in NGN21 has decreased thanks to alternative setup options, which has led us to discontinue the operation of NGN21 as of 31 December 2021.

How you can continue to use federation without relying on NGN21 can be found here:

Cloud PBX ready: Ostertag DeTeWe OD Cloud and Placetel PROFI vPBX successfully tested with ProCall Enterprise

We have successfully tested the interaction between ProCall Enterprise and the virtual PBXs Ostertag DeTeWe OD Cloud and Placetel PROFI vPBX and provided corresponding profiles for the connection.

There are two connection options for connecting ProCall Enterprise to the Cloud PBX:
Softphone functionalities of ProCall Enterprise
ECSTA for SIP Phones when using hardphone terminals

Checklist for Softphone installation

We have expanded our advice for successful installation and error analysis of softphone functions to include a checklist for softphone installations.

The use of softphone functions and VoIP telephony as a real-time application poses special challenges to VoIP installations. These challenges are found in the invisible behavior of the network. Wherever real-time communication has not been used, the quality of the network can be "heard" in softphone conversations.

Processing e-mails, copying files, or using industry software in the browser does not place any special demands on the real-time behavior of the network infrastructure. Whether the action takes 250ms longer or stalls briefly can be easily handled. However, this is not a sustainable state for a real-time application and thus the user experience with VoIP telephony.

However, these negative effects are difficult to predict. Even a small test installation does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the subsequent user experience.

With this checklist, we would like to provide initial information of possible upcoming challenges based on many VoIP readiness analyses conducted by an external service provider, thus enabling the implementation of a successful project.

Audio gaps with increasing call duration – disable jitter buffer in UC Media Server

With preset sync operation mode for PBX streaming (RTPEndpoint) and client streaming (WebRTCEndpoint), specific customer environments may experience increasing audio packet bursts in case of packet loss.
In practice, audio gaps can then be observed, which accumulate as the duration of the call increases

Since ProCall 7 Enterprise version, the operating mode can be configured in the UC Media Server. This now allows you to disable buffering of audio data if necessary.

Our new article shows you how to do this:

Version comparison revised – version development – Windows operating systems and Cloud PBX

In the version comparison, we provide an overview of how estos products have evolved in different versions and within the product lifecycle.
We have included the newly supported operating systems such as client operating system Microsoft Windows 11 and server operating system Microsoft Windows Server 2022 and, if applicable, the newly supported Cloud PBX Ostertag DeTeWe OD Cloud and Placetel PROFI vPBX in the version comparison:

Sending an e-mail does not open the desired mail program – set default mail client to Outlook

If the Send e-mail function is used in ProCall Enterprise in the Favorites or in the monitor and Windows Mail opens instead of Microsoft Outlook as desired, this is probably due to the fact that Outlook is not set as the default mail program in Microsoft Windows.

This can be checked in the ProCall client in the main window via the expert view in the system information and can be assigned in the Windows settings under Standard apps.

Our new article shows the possible procedure for Microsoft Windows 11 and Microsoft Windows 10:

Best Practice installation of ECSTA for SIP Phones: Video tutorial (webinar recording)

For the commissioning and configuration of ECSTA for SIP phones, we have compiled a video with explanations and practical tips for you from a technical webinar (only in German):

Audio quality with Jabra Headset Engage – sound too low

If, when using a Jabra Engage 65/75 headset, you observe that the called party hears the caller only very quietly, this may be due to the placement of the microphone boom in front of the mouth.

The headset uses noise cancellation features that affect the speech quality when the microphone boom is poorly positioned.

So in this case, check if the dial tone switch, microphone position, and microphone volume are configured correctly and make a test call to test your intelligibility and speech quality with suitable volume by changing the microphone position.
